Salmon Tales: In Conclusion
In conclusion:
Hopefully you've taken the time to browse through the information we've assembled
throughout the various pages of the Salmon Tales section. If so you will note that the
PCB-Scare is an idea founded on misinformation, misconception, fear, and pseudo-science.
If not, please look through the "Bad Science" section found on the menu to the left.
Also note that many reputable scientific organizations have conducted research that found
wild salmon to contain similar, and sometimes even higher, levels of PCBs than their farmed
counterparts. Despite these findings, PCB levels in both Wild and Farmed Salmon are well within FDA-imposed standards, and are deemed safe for consumption. To review this information please visit the "PCBs Wild/Farmed" and "Expert Criticism"
sections also found on the menu to the left.
There are so many health benefits related to the consumption of salmon that rather than post it all here, we've linked
another excellent site that provides a wealth of knowledge and citation. http://www.whfoods.com/genpage.php?tname=foodspice&dbid=104
So it can be concluded that the nutritional benefits of Farmed Salmon far outweigh any possible harm
posed by the presence of trace amounts of PCBs. Links to the various sources used in researching the
Salmon Tales section have been made available throughout the site. Citations are included in the text
and as footnotes on each respective page (Usually marked as "[References]"). If you have any questions or comments, please visit the Contact Us
page to fill out our comment form.
